Bayford Parish Council.

Remembrance Sunday was the 13th November. I have collated some facts about the names on the Bayford War Memorial on my web site. I would be grateful for any further contributions. It would be nice to know more about these brave men. Please see http://www.begesford.co.uk/ and follow the link.

Village Sign. The Village Sign was unveiled after the remembrance Service. If you don't live locally, there is a photograph of it on the web site. I first thanked Neville Hudson, who donated a substantial amount from the Gardens Open day towards the cost, John Brocklehurst who organised the whole project and interfaced with Alpha Signs over many months and finally Alan Fitzjohn and Rodney Callaby for staining and erecting the sign in its commanding position. Pauline then unveiled the sign and said a prayer and blessing.

Rose Triangle. Another fine example of villagers turning out to lend a hand, occurred the following Friday and Saturday. Claire and Bob Smith organised a group of volunteers to weed and prune. Whilst the roses had got into a very poor state, the weeds had grown excellently. But two two hour sessions have transformed the triangle back to its former glory. Thanks also to Melanie, Marilyn and Helen (and me).

Thanks also to Richard Golding for fixing the village notice board. We are also extremely grateful to Richard and Helen for the repair of the Bus Shelter. We hope this will not be vandalised again.

The above illustrates how little time is required to make a real difference. So next time you notice something 'needs doing', why not get a few people together and do to, rather than assuming it's someone else's problem! Well done to all of the above.
