Bayford Village Litter Pick. 20th May 2007.

We were again most fortunate in respect weather for the third annual litter picking. However, the turn out was most disappointing since only 7 parishioners assembled at the appointed hour. As was noted on a similar occasion:
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
And gentlemen in Bayford now abed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap

It was nevertheless an extremely successful morning, building on the previous years, when a huge backlog of rubbish was collected. Thus, this year's haul was more modest but undoubtedly most worthwhile. Whilst this 'band of brothers' (and sisters) was engaged in all corners of the parish, Alan and I attended to the pond outfall, which had become blocked. You may have noticed the level has resumed its former state. So many thanks to Bob and Joy Orme and their children Hannah and Christopher, Lorna Fitzjohn, Robert WS and especially to George Rowley for organising the yellow jackets and an inspirational reading of the risk assessment.
